X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>The act of challenging and/or banning book
 s isn&rsquo\;t new\; in fact\, we are seeing an ever growing trend to cens
 or what stories are available for people to read\, particularly our youth.
  If we want to create a society that is inclusive and celebrates diversity
 \, we must unite in fighting censorship and promote the reading of banned
 books.</p>\n<p>Join Dr. Melissa Bedford\, Assistant Professor of Literacy
 at Eastern Washington University\, for an evening of conversation and coll
 aboration for Banned Books Week 2022. This year&rsquo\;s theme is &ldquo\;
 Books Unite Us\, Censorship Divides Us&rdquo\;. The program will include a
  brief history of the Banned Books movement and current trends\, followed
 by an interactive reading activity with past and present banned and challe
 nged books\, and end with a Q&amp\;A. Together\, we can battle censorship
 and work to ensure all stories are being told.</p>\n<p>By&nbsp\;attending
 library programs\, you are agreeing to potentially appear in photos/videos
  taken at our locations that may be used in promotional materials includin
 g social media.</p>\n<p>We strive to make events welcoming for people of a
