We've all heard about the "power of the vo te" but what can you do to get involved beyond your vote? Join us for a co mmunity conversation on how to be a more informed and engaged citizen beyo nd your vote. Mia Lewis and Catherine Turcer from Common Cause Ohio will lead a discussion on civic engagement\, covering topics like becom ing an informed voter\, election protection\, becoming a poll worker\, reg istering voters\, and being an active constituent\, among others. Come wit h questions on how you can get involved with the issues that you care abou t and learn what Common Cause Ohio is working towards to support democracy. The speakers will also touch on the fight for fair voting distr icts and how you can be involved.

Catherine Turcer is the Executive Director for Common Cause Ohio. An expert on redistrict ing reform and state-level campaign finance\, Catherine advocates for grea ter transparency and a more accountable government and helped lead Ohio&rs quo\;s successful efforts to address gerrymandering. Before joining Common Cause Ohio in April 2012\, Catherine was Ohio Citizen Action&rsquo\;s leg islative director. During her tenure at Ohio Citizen Action\, she served a s the director of Ohio Citizen Action&rsquo\;s Money in Politics Project a nd co-authored a number of studies tracking campaign contributions. In 200 6\, Catherine received the Spirit of Democracy Award from the Ohio Secreta ry of State. Catherine has a bachelor&rsquo\;s degree in gerontology and c linical psychology from Alfred University and attended the University of C onnecticut for graduate work with a focus on social group work and researc h.

Mia Lewis \;is the Associate Director for Common Cause Ohio. Mia joined Common Cause during the push to pass 2018&rs quo\;s anti-gerrymandering Issue 1\, coordinating teams across Ohio to pus h for a &ldquo\;Yes&rdquo\; vote. She comes from an organizing and educati onal background\, and is passionate about protecting and expanding the rig ht to vote.
