Following the presentations from noted exp erts Dr. Jules Harrell and Dr. Kevin Washington\, participants will break into small facilitated groups to share what they learned\, discuss the imp act of trauma and discover solutions for how our community can better addr ess trauma. \;

&ldquo\;Living and Coping with Trauma: The Unse en Force&rdquo\; is in response to participants&rsquo\; requests from the Big Conversation forum\, &ldquo\;Many Wounds to Heal&rdquo\; and the event s and revelations of dealing with COVID.

Dr. Camara Jules P Har rell headshoptDr. Camara Jules P. Harrell \;is a 30 year professor of clinical psychology at Howard University \;and a researcher in the fi eld of the effects of stress and racism on the health of African Americans . His research interests include \;psychometrics \;and psychology of racism\, personality theories\, assessment\, and research\, and psychop hysiology. Much of Dr. Harrell's research examines the effect of racism as a stressor to African Americans\, resulting in poorer health.

 Dr. Kevin Washington is an Associate Professor and Head of the So ciology and Psychology at Grambling State University. He is founder and CE O\, of Nyanasapo Empowerment Works Unlimited Counseling Consultation.  \; As a Fulbright-Hays scholar he researched the impact of socializing ins titutions on the healing or restructuring of post-apartheid South Afrika. Not only does he work on healing the psycho-spiritual wounds that are pres ent within people as a result of cultural and historical trauma\, he conti nues developing healing paradigms for persons of Afrikan ancestry who have been impacted by Persistent Enslavement Systemic Trauma (PEST).
