X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>In recognition of National Truth and Recon
ciliation Day\, we will be joining a virtual tour with the Woodland Cultur
al Centre. This guided tour of the former Mohawk Institute Residential Sch
ool\, gives the history of the school from when it opened in 1831\, until
it closed in 1970. Participants will see different rooms in the school\, f
rom the meeting room\, the girls&rsquo\; and boys&rsquo\; dorms\, the thir
d floor\, cafeteria\, and various rooms in the basement. After the present
ation participants will have the opportunity to ask questions or share com
ments with the Cultural Interpreter.</p>\n<p>We mourn the children who die
d at residential "schools" across the country and recognize that there can
not be reconciliation without action and change. Join us on September 30th
in committing not only to wearing an orange shirt but to using the librar
y's resources to learn more about the histories and stories of Indigenous
people across Turtle Island.</p>\n<p>Registrants will receive an e-mail 24
hours before the start of the program with an invitation to join.&nbsp\;<
