 e that can come from chronic stress in the workplace. Symptoms of burnout 
 include feeling emotionally exhausted\, difficulty caring about the work y
 ou do\, and a sense that you&rsquo\;re not doing a good job. While &ldquo\
 ;self-care&rdquo\; has become a popular term in recent years\, not everyon
 e has equal access to self-care strategies and many find them inadequate i
 n the face of long-term burnout.</p>\n<p>Dr. Tompsett will briefly review 
 psychological research on burnout and chronic stress\, including how diffe
 rent workplace challenges can impair well-being. Through the use of a self
 -inventory and guided discussion\, Dr. Tompsett will help attendees reflec
 t on steps they can take to better take care of themselves and prevent lon
 g-term burnout.</p>\n<p>This event is part of Better Toledo\, a personal a

 psett\, Ph.D.\, Professor and Chair\, Department of Psychology\, BGSU</str
 ong></p>\n<p>Dr. Carolyn Tompsett is a Professor and Chair of the Departme
 nt of Psychology at Bowling Green State University. Dr. Tompsett received 
 her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Wayne State University\, and is a li
 censed Psychologist. Dr. Tompsett has spent many years practicing and supe
 rvising psychotherapy with diverse clients experiencing anxiety\, depressi
 on\, substance use\, and other problem behaviors\, with a particular focus
  on adolescents and young adults. Dr. Tompsett works to prevent and allevi
 ate burnout both as a clinician and administrator\, with attention to both
  individual and systemic contributors to chronic stress.</p>\nhttps://tole
