Writing 50\,000 words in one month (or any amount of words at all) is a feat to be celebrated. The question is: what do you do next and where do you go from here? F. J. Talley&rsquo\;s first published novel actually began as a NaNoWriMo creation. He was able to co mplete this book and take the steps needed to get it edited\, finalized\, and published: steps which he will be sharing with us.
\n\nF. J. Talley wrote his first novel-length work in the summe
r between college and graduate school. This still unpublished work helped
to develop his writing style\, characterized by dialogue sprinkled with wi
t and dry humor\, even though F. J. doesn&rsquo\;t really have a sense of
humor. He has published two novels and F. J.&rsquo\;s work has appeared in
anthologies. F. J. is the winner of the 2019 Award for Fiction from the G
ulf Coast Writer&rsquo\;s Association. His novel \;Take Ha
rt\, was selected as a finalist in the \;2019 Next Gener
ation Indie Book Awards in the category of First Novel (70\,000-90\,000 wo
rds).
He is an active member of Sisters in Crime\, Crime Writers o f Color\, and the Maryland Writer&rsquo\;s Association\, and lives with fa mily on the Western Shore of the Chesapeake Bay.
