 squo\;s Farewell Tour saw the 67 year old last surviving major general of 
 the American Revolution triumphantly return to the country he loved. Both 
 Congress and President James Monroe had invited him with the hope that his
  visit might reignite patriotic fervor in a politically divided America\, 
 fast approaching its 50th Anniversary. Lafayette hoped to return to France
  with the story of a successful democracy. From August 15\, 1824 to Septem
 ber 9\, 1825\, Lafayette covered over 6000 miles by carriage\, stagecoach\
 , canal barge\, and steamboat\, traveling to all 24 exiting states and &ld
 quo\;Washington City.&rdquo\; Everywhere he went and with a renewed patrio
 tism\, Lafayette was met with adoration and accolades as the American hero
  he was. This presentation will cover the details of Lafayette&rsquo\;s Fa
 rewell Tour of America\, how it will be celebrated in 2024 &ndash\; 2025\,
  and how everyone will have the opportunity to get involved.</p>\n<p>Speak
 er Dr. Patricia Maclay is a lifetime member of the American Friends of Laf
 ayette and is on both its Governing Board as well as the National Steering
  Committee for the Bicentennial Celebration of Lafayette&rsquo\;s Farewell
  Tour scheduled for 2024 &ndash\; 2025.&nbsp\; Beside national presentatio
 ns\, she is responsible for planning both the Lafayette Farewell Tour comm
 emorative visit to Fort McHenry as well as the reenactment of a Joint Sess
 ion of the U.S. Congress. She also serves on the planning committees for P
 hiladelphia\, &nbsp\;and New York City.</p>\n<p>In DAR\, Dr. Maclay is the
  immediate past Maryland State Historian and is now State Chair for the DA
 R Leadership Training Courses. She also serves as National Vice Chair for 
 the DAR&rsquo\;s commemoration of the Lafayette.</p>\n<p>Co-hosted with Be
 thesda Metro Area Village. BMAV is a volunteer organization providing serv
 ices and community support to allow people to remain in their homes as the
