In honor of Indigenous Peoples' Day\, Nava jo Nation citizen Danielle Geller will give a live online talk about her d ebut memoir\, " Dog Flowers\," which Kirkus described as "a Navajo woman's memoir of f amily\, loss\, and self-discovery."

\ nDanielle \;Geller \;is a writer of personal essays and memoir. Her first book\, "Dog Flowers\," was published by One World/Random House in 2021. Her work has appeared in \;Guernica\, \;The Paris Review Daily\, The New Yorker and \;Brevity\, \;and has been anthologized in "This Is the Place" and "The Diné\; Reader: An Anthology of Nava jo Literature." She received the Rona Jaffe Writers&rsquo\; Award in 2016\ , and her book is a finalist for the BC and Yukon Book Prizes&rsquo\;s Hub ert Evans Non-Fiction Prize and the Jim Deva Prize for Writing that Provok es. \;She teaches creative writing at the University of Victoria and t he low-residency MFA program at the Institute of American Indian Arts.&nbs p\;She is a citizen of the Navajo Nation: born to the Tsi&rsquo\;naajinii\ , born for the bilagaana\, but she currently lives in British Columbia wit h her husband and two cats.
