 uo\;The Block Party @ MLK&rdquo\;. For the second year\, the library is br
 inging you an amazing experience featuring Go-Go music\, art\, food trucks
 \, DC history and so much more! This year&rsquo\;s event concludes the lib
 rary&rsquo\;s <a href="https://www.dclibrary.org/bannedbooks">Banned Books
  Week</a> celebrating the freedoms of all literary art and the barriers th
 at have been broken for some of our greatest works. &ldquo\;The Block Part
 y @ MLK&rdquo\; will honor and celebrate arts in the city by inviting gues
 ts to an immersive experience inspired by Banned Books that have influence
 d art and culture.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>At 8 pm\, our evening festivities open a
 t 9th and G with live performances by <strong>DJ Remii</strong>\, <strong>
 DJ Rico</strong> and <strong>Black Alley</strong>\, food truck row\, a sma
 ll business pop up and interactive experiences such as a Live Muralist and
  Screen Printed T-Shirts.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>The party continues inside the li
 brary as we transform the Great Hall into a juke joint inspired by Alice W
 alker&rsquo\;s The Color Purple\, featuring the music of <strong>Christyle
 z Bacon</strong> and spoken word artists. You don&rsquo\;t want to miss th
 e library&rsquo\;s Find My Story Installation in Digital Commons\, a multi
 -sensory experience with immersive installations that reimagines scenes fr
 om banned books that changed the course of history\, including <em>The Hat
 e U Give</em>\,&nbsp\;<em>Where the Wild Things Are\, Fahrenheit 451</em> 
 and more.&nbsp\; &nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Welcoming you to enjoy all the library ha
 s to offer\,&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&ldquo\;The Block Party @ MLK&rdquo\; is also a 
 reminder of the unifying power of literary art and the divisiveness of cen
 sorship\, and a call to action for readers across the country to push back
  against censorship attempts in their communities and celebrate the freedo
 ms that the DC Public Library has to offer. A place that YOU can always be
