 d\, South Dakota\, hosts world-leading experiments in physics\, geology\, 
 biology\, and engineering. How did this state-of-the-art science facility 
 come to be in South Dakota? What are researchers hoping to discover? And w
 hy do scientists need to go deep underground in the first place? This pres
 entation will explore all of these questions and more!<br /><br />Dr. Mark
 us Horn has been a research scientist with SURF since 2016. Dr. Horn has w
 orked with experiments searching for the Universe&rsquo\;s &ldquo\;missing
  matter&rdquo\; in underground facilities in France\, the United Kingdom\,
  and the United States for more than 15 years. Originally from Germany\, h
 is academic career took him to London\, Oxford\, Yale\, and Berkeley\, bef
 ore he came to work at SURF.</p>\n<p>Registration is required to receive a
  lunch at this event and is limited to 30. Lunch registration opens on Apr
