Based on a current exhibition at the Matheson History Museum\, this progra m will share details and context surrounding Black Thursday. In a great sh ow of strength on April 15\, 1971\, Black students decided to take a stand in a protest at Tigert Hall on the UF campus. Their interaction with Pres ident Stephen O&rsquo\;Connell would change the course of the university f orever.

Kaitlyn Hof-Mahoney is the Executive Director of the Mathe son History Museum. Kaitlyn earned her B.A. in History from Auburn Univers ity and her M.A. in Museum Studies from the University of Florida. She has been with the Matheson since the fall of 2015 when she began volunteering as a graduate student. She gradually took on more responsibility at the m useum\, becoming the Curator of Collections in 2018 and the Executive Dire ctor in 2021. Her favorite part of working at the Matheson is the opportun ity to learn something new every day through research requests\, conversat ions with our visitors\, and our programs and exhibitions.
