In this program Dani Kastelein-Longlade\, a Mé\;tis artist\, designer\, and Drummond Island decendent (Aabitaa wizininiwag) from the Georgian Bay and Environs Historic Mé\;tis com munity of Penetanguishene\, will walk guests through their work\, while sh aring elements of the Anishinaabe migration story and the process for crea ting the artwork. Dani will also speak to Indigenous relationships to the land and water and how those relationships can be honoured through storyte lling and knowledge sharing.
\nDani Kastelein-Longlade (they/them): is an architectural designer within the Indigenous Design Studio at Brook McIlroy\, an architecture\, urban design\, landscape arch itecture\, and planning firm with offices in Toronto\, Thunder Bay\, and W innipeg. Dani is also an artist and illustrator who is active in the acade mic community as a published researcher and lecturer. A registered citizen with the Mé\;tis Nation of Ontario\, they hold kinship ties that ex tend from the Red River to the surrounding regions of Georgian Bay as a Dr ummond Island descendent (Aabitaawizininiwag). Dani earned their Master of Architecture degree in the Collaborative Water Program at the University of Waterloo and is currently residing in Block 2 of the Haldimand Tract\, land that was promised to the Haudenosaunee\, also known as the Six Nation s of the Grand River.
