"The talk I plan to give at the Oaklyn Lib rary presents many of my finished works along with the inspirations behind them. When some people look at contemporary art\, especially "weird stuff " (like a lot of my work) they feel a bit lost\, wondering where the image ry came from and what the work is supposed to mean. This talk is meant to help viewers better understand where my ideas come from and how they are m ade visual. The talk also includes works by some other artists\, it is mea nt to help viewers get to the "why?" in a work of art\, not just my work\, but all artworks. I also plan to bring a few "show and tell" items to sha re with the people who come to the talk. It is kind of rare that people ge t to handle "art objects"."
\n\nRob is a transplanted New Eng lander living in the Midwest. He loves American \;folk art\, loud musi c\, and teaching people to make stuff. He has shown his work in over 500 e xhibitions and won well over 100 awards for his art and teaching. His work has been published in \;Sculpture \;magazine\, \;American Cra ft\, \;and in several books. His art is in many collections (public an d private). He is a Professor of Art at the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville\, Indiana.
