 ecause it gives us the ability to understand vast volumes of data that wou
 ld otherwise be unactionable. With this\, AI brings the ability to make de
 cisions that could vastly improve our quality of life\, but not without co
 nsequences.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>In this discussion\, author Karen Kilroy presen
 ts information to the community about the potential impact of AI\, and why
  we need to maintain the right amount of leverage over AI so we can gain t
 he benefit of its use\, but still keep it under our control.</p>\n<p>&nbsp
 \;</p>\n<p>Karen will explain her book\, "<a href="https://www.oreilly.com
 /library/view/blockchain-tethered-ai/9781098130541/">Blockchain Tethered A
 I</a>" (O'Reilly\, 2023)\, in terms anyone can understand. During this dis
 cussion\, participants will:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Learn how AI is different from
  other software like spreadsheets or email programs.</li>\n<li>Understand 
 why AI is a real concern and learn the impact of mysterious terms like bla
 ck box\, program synthesis\, singularity and back doors.</li>\n<li>Learn h
 ow blockchain makes food traceable and trackable\, and how this same idea 
 can be applied to AI's supply chain.</li>\n<li>Learn what can be done to m
 ake AI better so it is not dangerous\, and why blockchain is a good idea f
 or AI.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Participants will have an opportuni
 ty to ask questions and bring up points for discussion. There will also be
  a giveaway for free e-copies and hard copies of "Blockchain Tethered AI"
