Nancy Raen-Mendez was born in Boston\, MA. She has an MFA in painting from the University of Cincinnati\, an MAE and a BFA in painting from the University of Massachusetts\, Dartmouth. Nancy has been exhibiting her artwork nationally and internationally for over 1 5 years and her work has been included in over 150 group exhibitions. She has had six solo exhibitions and has been the recipient of many awards. He r artwork has been published in a number of books as well as various other publications. Her work resides in public collections across the country i ncluding the Williamsburg Arts and Historical Center in Brooklyn\, NY. She is currently an Instructor of Art at the University of Southern Indiana w here she teaches painting\, drawing\, and 2-D Design courses.

\nNancy primarily works in painting and drawing. She is interest ed in experimenting with historical techniques and she often uses indirect painting processes. Conceptually\, her artwork stems from her interests i n social and political relationships as well as environmental concerns. Sh e explores the ideas of forming and separating\, boundaries and edges\, an d inclusion and exclusion. The imagery in her work is often inspired by Ju ngian archetypes. There are perceptual elements in her work along with pas sages that dissolve solid boundaries and move into abstraction.
