 ion\, or choose to read something they have written themselves. The Africa
 n American Read-In\, a program developed by the Black Caucus of the Nation
 al Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) and sponsored by the NCTE since 1
 990. Established as a way to make literacy a significant part of Black His
 tory Month\, it is the nation's first and oldest event dedicated to divers
 ity in literature and has reached more than 5.5 million participants aroun
