Join us for a special evening with Robin W all Kimmerer\, the award-winning author of "Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenou s Wisdom\, Scientific Knowledge\, and the Teachings of Plants." She will d elve into her own experiences as a botanist\, indigenous science professor \, and environmental advocate\, and offer insights into her journey of lea rning to listen to the voice of the natural world. \nRobin Wall Kimmerer is an acclaimed author\, botanist\, and indigenous science professor known for her deep connection to nature and passion for promoting a more sustainable and equitable world. Her writing blends indigenous knowledge\, scientific research\, and personal experiences to offer a unique perspective on the interdependence of humans and the natural world. Her first book\, "Braidin g Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom\, Scientific Knowledge\, and the Teachings of Plants\," has received widespread praise and has become a touchstone i n the movement towards rethinking our relationship with the earth.
\nModerator Cindy Crosby the author\, compiler or contributor to more than 20 books\, including Chasing Dragonflies: A Natural\, Cultural\, and Perso nal History and The Tallgrass Prairie: An Introduction (both from Northwes tern University Press). Cindy earned a master's degree in natural resource s/environmental communication from University of Wisconsin-Steven's Point in 2014. She is a steward on the Schulenberg Prairie at The Morton Arboret um in Lisle\, IL\, and coordinates dragonfly monitoring activities as a st eward for the Arboretum and for Nachusa Grasslands\, a Nature Conservancy site with bison in Franklin Grove\, IL. \;
