THE FLOORWALKER &ndash\; The "Tramp" is a customer who creates chaos in a department store and becomes inadvertently entangled in the nefarious scheme of the store manager\, played by Eric C ampbell\, and the store's floorwalker\, played by Lloyd Bacon\, to embezzl e money from the establishment. \nTHE RINK &ndash\; After amusements working in a restaurant\, C harlie uses his lunch break to go roller skating. Also starring Edna Purvi ance\, Eric Campbell\, Henry Bergman\, and Albert Austin.
\nBEHIND T HE SCREEN &ndash\; The film takes place in a movie studio. A stagehand nam ed David (Chaplin) has a supervisor\, Goliath (Eric Campbell). Much of the film is slapstick comedy involving Chaplin manhandling large props\, but other plotlines include a strike by the stagehands\, and Edna Purviance\, who is unable to become an actress\, dressing as a man and becoming a stag ehand.
\nThese wonderful screen gems are enhanced by live piano acco mpaniment from Cleveland native David Drazin\, an accomplished virtuoso wi th a talent for playing off the cuff. David selects the perfect piece from his impressive mental repertoire to heighten the viewing experience for o ur audience. In addition to knowing just the right thing to play for any s ilent film imaginable\, David is also an expert in jazz\, classical\, blue s\, and boogie-woogie. Having his talent truly makes our Silent September series something to behold.
