DESCRIPTION:Join us as we explore the world of zines and learn more about
 this DIY movement. .\nhttps://faylib.libnet.info/event/7668613
X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>In this class\, participants will learn ab
out the richness of zine history and create small publications of their ow
n! Zines\, otherwise known as self-published magazines and fanzines\, exis
t outside of patriarchal publishing norms and have created a community aro
und various topics such as social justice\, human rights\, bodily autonomy
 \, etc. The do-it-yourself self-publishing attitude creates a humble\, raw
 \, and accessible atmosphere!&nbsp\;</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>Acadia Kandora is a
printmaker\, rock collector and nature enthusiast. She holds an MFA in Pri
ntmaking from the University of Arkansas and a BFA with concentrations in
Graphic Design and Sculpture from Shepherd University. She has exhibited b
oth nationally and internationally in cities such as Baltimore\, Indianapo
lis\, Bentonville\, and Korpo\, Finland. Her work revolves around her rela
tionship to nature\, the natural\, landscape\, and the intersection betwee
n the imaginary and the concrete.</p>\n<p>During the residency\, Acadia wi
ll work on a new body of work that focuses on how the glitch relates to me
mory by removing layers of ink from existing prints using the laser engrav
er. This removal is conceptually embraced within her work as a rewriting o
f narrative. In essence\, taking back autonomy (from previous situations t
hat are addressed in current work) by engraving new materials or images in
to the existing printed memory. As someone who has focused on additive pro
cesses for most of her creative practice\, it will be a fun challenge to l
 earn how to start subtracting.</p>\nhttps://faylib.libnet.info/event/76686
