X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>Edward Hopper portrayed a panorama of 20th
 -century American life: <strong>cityscapes</strong> - buildings\, apartmen
 ts\, rooftops\, empty streets\; <strong>country sides</strong>: roads\, fi
 elds\, barns\, abandoned homes\; <strong>coastal New England</strong>: har
bors\, sailboats\, lighthouses. His most recognizable art reveals people a
 lone in <strong>urban interiors</strong>: theatres\, motels\, offices\, re
staurants\, diners.</p>\n<p>Why do so many Hopper paintings - people\, pla
ces\, and even buildings - suggest movie stills of quiet moments from a dr
amatic film? Why does Hopper&rsquo\;s art keep growing in its universal ap
peal and critical acclaim? We will discuss these and other questions in a
 presentation of Hopper&rsquo\;s artwork.</p>\n<p>Note: "<a href="https://w
