Niemi&rsquo\;s work represents his continu ed interest and search for understanding of the natural world around him. Residing in the Monadnock region of New Hampshire\, he takes most of his i nspiration from the woods and fields\, the hills\, the mountains\, and the many varied bodies of water. Niemi states\, &ldquo\;I own just over 11 ac res of land\, much of it wooded\, and many of my ideas come from exploring this enchanting environment. One never knows what Nature has in store\, a nd one can only hope to capture in their work a glimmer of what Nature mak es known to us.&rdquo\;
\nThis type of documentation of the world ar
ound us is particularly important when you think about how climate is begi
nning to change our landscape. Niemi believes that &ldquo\;some of the sce
nes I paint might not be around for future generations to enjoy and experi
ence. It is with that humility that I approach my painting\, realizing wha
t a great privilege and responsibility it is to be an artist and it is wit
h that mindset that I endeavor to capture with paint the beauty that Natur
e has chosen to reveal to us.&rdquo\; Between the natural shifts in season
