 lack Resistance\," which is the theme for Black History Month\, establishe
 d by the&nbsp\;Association for the Study of African American Life and Hist
 ory.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>&nbsp\;The exhibition focuses on the evolution of radi
 cal community activist movements that became prominent in the late 1960s a
 nd early 1970s. Through organizations like the Black Panther Party\, The Y
 oung Lords Party\, &nbsp\;Brown Berets\, the American Indian Movement and 
 others\, young people became the vanguard for social change felt nationall
 y and globally.</p>\n<p>In addition to documentary photos\, the exhibition
  will include ephemera in the form of foreign books\, pamphlets\, vintage 
 buttons\, pins\, historical mainstream newspapers\, flyers\, t-shirts\, vi
 nyl records and posters. This exhibition is curated by Marie Vickles\, Dir
 ector of Education at the P&eacute\;rez Art Museum Miami\, and william cor
 dova\, an interdisciplinary cultural practitioner and Guggenheim Museum Fe
 llow.</p>\n<p>Accompanying the exhibition will be a series of free public 
 programs. Additional information will be forthcoming.</p>\n<p>An&nbsp\;ope

 African American Research Library and Cultural Center&nbsp\;</strong><br /
 >The <a href="https://www.broward.org/Library/Pages/AARLCCStory.aspx" targ
 et="_blank" rel="noopener">Broward County African American Research Librar
 y and Cultural Center (AARLCC)</a>&nbsp\;is located in the Sistrunk commun
 ity\, one of the oldest historically Black communities named for one of Fo
 rt Lauderdale&rsquo\;s first Black physicians. Opening to the public on Oc
 tober 26\, 2002\, AARLCC became the third public library of its kind in th
 e United States dedicated to the study of Black history and culture. The 6
 0\,000 square-foot Center serves as a repository of materials related to t
 he local\, national\, and international voices of the African diaspora wit
 h more than 85\,000 books\, manuscripts\, artifacts\, framed art\, print\,
  photography\, audiovisual\, and documents held in our Adult Services Sect
 ion and Special Collections. The Youth Services Section features a special
  collection of Coretta Scott King Award books and the Ashley Bryan Art Col
 lection from illustrators of African Descent. AARLCC also features a 5\,00
 0 sq. ft. museum\, a 300-seat state-of-the-art theatre\, and a Computer Tr
