 acism is no longer a serious problem. The systems that surround us\, from 
 the media and popular culture to education to the criminal justice system\
 , all contribute to perpetuating these myths through explicit and implicit
  messages. How can we discredit these myths and apply an anti-racist minds
 et to work toward racial justice? The presentation will include time for d
 iscussion.</p>\n<p><strong>About the Presenter:</strong>&nbsp\; Dr. Karen 
 Gaffney is Professor of English at Raritan Valley Community College in New
  Jersey. She serves on the steering committee for the Hunterdon County Ant
 i-Racism Coalition in NJ\, cofacilitates the Community Course on Racism\, 
 based in Somerville\, NJ\, and shares resources on her blog Divided No Lon
 ger (available at&nbsp\;www.dividednolonger.com). Her book\,&nbsp\;Dismant
 ling the Racism Machine: A Manual and Toolbox&nbsp\;(published by Routledg
 e)\, is an accessible and interdisciplinary introduction to race and racis
 m with tools for action.</p>\n<p>This event is in celebration of Black His
 tory Month and is part of the Roxbury Library&rsquo\;s ongoing&nbsp\;<em>C
 ommon Grounds</em> series presented by the Library and the Common Grounds 
 Team\, which explores and facilitates civil conversations on race\, politi
 cal beliefs\, gender\, creed and more\, celebrating diversity in Roxbury.<
