tine Cookies
\n
Ingredients:
\n
3 1/2 cups all-p
urpose flour
\n
1/2 teaspoon salt
\n
1 cup unsalted butter\, sof
tened
\n
2/3 cup flour
\n
1 large egg
\n
1 tablespoon light
 corn syrup
\n
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
\n
pink sanding suga
r
\n
white sanding sugar
\n
few drops of red food coloring
\n

\n
Directions:
&nbsp\; &nbsp\; &nbsp\;Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
\n<
p>1.&nbsp\; It's easiest to make one batch of dough and divide in half.
\n
2.&nbsp\; In a bowl whisk together the dry ingredients of flour and
salt.&nbsp\; Set aside.
\n
3.&nbsp\; Using a stand mixer\, cream toge
ther the butter and sugar until fluffy.
\n
&nbsp\; &nbsp\; &nbsp\;Add
the eggs one at a time. &nbsp\;Then add the corn syrup and vanilla extrac
t.
\n
4.&nbsp\; Now add the flour mixture one third at a time until t
horoughly mixed.
\n
5.&nbsp\; Divide the dough in half.&nbsp\; Add a
few drops of red food coloring to half
\n
&nbsp\; &nbsp\; &nbsp\;of t
he mixture&nbsp\;to create the pink dough.
\n
6.&nbsp\; Pat the dough
 into two disks\, wrap in plastic\, and refrigerate 1 to 2 hours\,
\n
&nbsp\; &nbsp\; &nbsp\;or until firm enough to roll.&nbsp\; If the dough
becomes too firm\, soften at room
\n
&nbsp\; &nbsp\; &nbsp\;temperatu
re for about 5 minutes.
\n
7.&nbsp\; Roll each disk between two sheet
s of waxed paper or parchment paper.
\n
&nbsp\; &nbsp\; &nbsp\;Sprink
le with the sanding&nbsp\;sugar. Gently place the wax paper on the dough a
nd
\n
&nbsp\; &nbsp\; &nbsp\;roll over so the sugar adheres.&nbsp\; U
sing a knife cut&nbsp\;the dough into strips about
\n
&nbsp\; &nbsp\;
&nbsp\;1/2 inch wide. Place the strips side by side\, alternating colors.
&nbsp\; Place
\n
&nbsp\; &nbsp\; &nbsp\;a piece of of wax paper over
the strips and again roll over the top to make
\n
&nbsp\; &nbsp\; &nb
sp\;the strips adhere together.&nbsp\;
\n
8.&nbsp\; Return the dough
to the refrigerator one more time.&nbsp\; Use a heart cookie cutter
\n<
p>&nbsp\; &nbsp\; &nbsp\;to create your Valentine's cookies.&nbsp\; For le
ftover scrapes use a tiny heart cookie cutter.
\n
9.&nbsp\; Bake for
8 -10 minutes or until cookies start to brown lightly around the edges.
\n
&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;Notes:
\n
&nbsp\;&nbsp\;*
&nbsp\; The best time to add the sanding sugar is when the dough has warme
d up a bit.&nbsp\;
\n
&nbsp\; &nbsp\; &nbsp\; If the dough is too war
m the sanding&nbsp\;sugar won't stick.
\n

\n

\n
&nbsp\;&n
