DESCRIPTION:Join us for a virtual discussion of Elly Fishman's "Refugee Hi
 gh.".\nhttps://alexandria.libnet.info/event/7870963
X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>Refugee High&nbsp\;is a chronicle of the 2
 017-8 school year at Sullivan High\, a time when anti-immigrant rhetoric w
as at its height in the White House. Even as we follow teachers and admini
strators grappling with the everyday challenges facing many urban schools\
, we witness the complicated circumstances and unique education needs of r
efugee and immigrant children.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>The Diversity Book Club is h
osted monthly by AAUW Alexandria / Women Building Cross-Cultural Friendshi
ps (WBCCF) and co-sponsored by the Alexandria Burke Branch Library.</p>\n<
p>WBCCF's goal is to give women the opportunity in a diverse and inclusive
group to enrich their own lives through these relationships and help ampl
ify the voices of all women in our community. WBCCF&nbsp\;believes that th
e opportunity to come together to explore issues of race\, religion\, ethn
icity\, etc. through well-chosen books will not only further our individua
l learning but also create a setting in which we might ultimately decide o
 n a community undertaking with wider implications.</p>\n<p>The Diversity B
ook Club meets on the second Monday of each month at 7:00 PM. Please note
that the group will meet on the first Monday of this month.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p
 >This program will take place by Zoom and registration is required. After
registering with Bonnie Hershberg\, you will be e-mailed the link to join
this Zoom meeting.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>If you have any questions about the prog
