Broward Tax Pro\, known as Volunteer Incom e Tax Assistance (VITA) program\, is a partner-coordinated\, county-wide e ffort that helps individuals and families save on tax preparation fees and keep more of their money. Since its inception in 2003\, the VITA program in Broward County has brought back $ 540+ million \;in tax refunds to the community. \; Established in 1969\, the VITA program is a national IRS initiative\, operated by community partners that provide free tax pre paration assistance with an accuracy rate of 94 percent\, and ensures that taxpayers claim all applicable credits for which they qualify.

About the African American Research Library and C
ultural Center \;
The \;Broward County African
American Research Library and Cultural Center \;(AARLCC) \;is
located in the Sistrunk community\, one of the oldest historically Black
communities named for one of Fort Lauderdale&rsquo\;s first Black physicia
ns. Opening to the public on October 26\, 2002\, AARLCC became the third p
ublic library of its kind in the United States dedicated to the study of B
lack history and culture. The 60\,000 square-foot Center serves as a repos
itory of materials related to the local\, national\, and international voi
ces of the African diaspora with more than 85\,000 books\, manuscripts\, a
rtifacts\, framed art\, print\, photography\, audiovisual\, and documents
held in our Adult Services Section and Special Collections. The Youth Serv
ices Section features a special collection of Coretta Scott King Award boo
ks and the \;Ashley Bryan Art Collection \;from illustrators of Af
rican Descent. AARLCC also features a 5\,000 sq. ft. museum\, a 300-seat s
tate-of-the-art theatre\, and a Computer Training Center.
