  of Belva Lockwood\, the first female attorney in America to practice befo
 re the United States Supreme Court\; or Lise Meitner\, the Austrian nuclea
 r physicist\, whose partner was awarded the Nobel Prize in chemistry for h
 er discovery\; or&nbsp\;Murasaki Shikibu\, who wrote&nbsp\;Tales of Genji\
 ,&nbsp\;the first novel\;&nbsp\;or Rebecca Crumpler\, the first black woma
 n to receive a medical degree in America?</p>\n<p><em>Anita Barondes\, who
  lives in Alexandria and volunteers for Burke Branch Friends group\, took 
 four years to research\, design and stitch the tapestry. &nbsp\;This stunn
 ing piece&nbsp\;was awarded a first-place prize&nbsp\;and The People Choic
 e Award at the&nbsp\;prestigious&nbsp\;Woodlawn Needlework Show in 2021.&n
