DESCRIPTION:Learn about the different systems that govern your attention\,
  perceptions\, thoughts\, emotions\, memories\, and behaviours!.\nhttps://

X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>The brain is perhaps the most sophisticate
d system in the universe\, capable of keeping your body functioning and pr
ocessing everything that you experience\, remember\, imagine\, think about
\, and do\, often with little conscious effort involved. The brain is not
just one system that performs all these miraculous functions though &ndash
\; it consists of many dedicated systems coordinating in parallel with eac
h other in an elegantly organized fashion.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Scott Squires is
a Ph.D. candidate in his fourth year at the Centre for Neuroscience Studi
es at Queen&rsquo\;s University\, working under the co-supervision of Dr.
Jordan Poppenk and Dr. Roumen Milev. Using a combination of psychometric a
nalysis\, functional MRI\, and transcranial magnetic stimulation\, he stud
ies the links between life stress\, emotion\, functional brain connectivit
 y\, and repetitive thinking (e.g.\, rumination\, worry\, reflection\, etc.
). The goal of his research is to establish a basic framework for defining
different kinds of repetitive thought\, understanding how they manifest i
n the brain\, and how they are modulated with neurostimulation\, which wil
l have important implications for the assessment and treatment of psychiat
ric disorders like major depressive disorder\, posttraumatic stress disord
er\, and many others.</p>\n<p>This presentation will also be streamed live
  via Zoom.</p>\n<p>Registration required</p>\nhttps://kfpl.libnet.info/eve
