\nEl Dí\;a de los niñ\;os/El D& iacute\;a de los libros\, also known simply as Dí\;a\, is a celebrat ion of children\, families\, and reading that culminates yearly on April 3 0. &ldquo\;Children&rsquo\;s Day&rdquo\; has been celebrated in many count ries around the world officially since 1925.
\nAfter learning about Mexico&rsquo\;s tradition of celebrating April 30th as El Dí\;a del niñ\;o\, children&rsquo\;s book author Pat Mora helped create a new holiday in the United States emphasizing the importance of literacy for ch ildren of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds\, linking families to di verse books\, languages and cultures. DIA is also known as Diversity in Ac tion!
