  and retired teacher.</p>\n<p>Barbie spent her early years as an islander 
 on Key Biscayne and in Coral Gables. Upon achieving a&nbsp\; Master&rsquo\
 ;s Degree in Education at FIU\,&nbsp\; she embarked upon what would become
  a 35-year long teaching career\,&nbsp\; a fulfilling endeavor that she wa
 s passionate about.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>This enabled her to spend many summers 
 traveling to places around the world\, photographing the different world c
 ultures and sharing these experiences with the children.</p>\n<p>ARTIST ST
 ATEMENT</p>\n<p>Since retirement\, Barbie continues creating her photo art
