With the advent of the new Amazon Prime sh ow &ldquo\;The Rings of Power\,&rdquo\; a new age of Middle-earth has come to the screen from the pages of J.R.R. Tolkien's writings. One character brought to new life is Sauron\, the dreaded foe of The Lord of the Rings. But what was Sauron doing during the Second Age\, the period in which the new show is set\, according to the source material? Join us for Tolkien Re ading Day\, an international celebration of the acclaimed author\, for a s election of readings on Sauron in the Second Age.
\nThis event invol ves listening to a panel of readers who will read selections from Tolkien' s Second Age. Context will be provided so audience members who haven't rea d the source material will still be able to follow. Time will be set aside for Q&\;A and discussion of Tolkien and his work will follow.
\nWhat is Tolkien Reading Day?
\nTolkien Reading Day \;is held on the 25th \;of March each year. The date of the 25th \;of March was chosen as the date on which the Ring was destroyed\, completing Frodo &rsquo\;s quest and vanquishing Sauron.
\nIt has been organized by t he Tolkien Society since 2003 to encourage fans to celebrate and promote t he life and works of J.R.R. Tolkien by reading favorite passages. \;\n
