X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>In this program\, we discuss the history o
f performance art\, its concept\, styles and later developments. Also\, we
examine the works of some of the most influential performance artists. Pe
rformance art is a way of engaging directly with social reality and allows
people to express themselves to be connected with others. Performance can
be created through actions performed by the artist or by other participan
t's engagements. As theorist Jonah Westerman remarked\, "performance is no
t (and never was) a medium\, not something that an Artwork can be but rath
er a set of questions and concerns about how art relates to people and the
wider social world."</p>\n<p>Azadeh Hussaini is a Chicago-based\, Iranian
-American interdisciplinary artist and art educator. She holds an MFA in n
on-figurative painting from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco
and a BFA in painting from Azad Art University in Tehran.<br />She is co-
founder of Didaar Art Collective\, a Chicago based Iranian Artists communi
ty\, curator and board member at Theatre- Y\, a Chicago based theater comp
any and Art Gallery Advisory Committee for the Wadsworth Family Gallery at
Lewis University.<br />Her work embodies the exploration of her emotional
responses to her own experiences while concurrently ascertaining the basi
c primordial desires within the human condition.&nbsp\; Hussaini aspires t
o discover commonalities among us while providing forums for social discus
sion and assertiveness.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>The Evanston Art Center is dedicate
d to fostering the appreciation and expression of the arts among diverse a
udiences by offering extensive and innovative instruction in broad areas o
f artistic endeavor through classes\, exhibitions\, interactive arts activ
ities\, and community outreach.</p>\n<p>This program is presented as part
