The multi-media presentation\, Riders on t he Orphan Train\, tells the story of the 250\,000 orphans and unwanted chi ldren who were put on trains in New York between 1854 and 1929 and sent al l over the United States to be given away. The presentation is comprised o f original music\, an audio-visual presentation of archival photographs an d interviews with two surviving orphan train riders and is followed by a d ramatic recitation from the new novel "Riders on the Orphan Train" by nove list and Humanities Scholar Alison Moore.

After the presentation\, there will be an informal discussion led by Alison Moore and Phil Lancast er about the origin and demise of the largest child migration in history a nd the part it played in the formation of the American Dream.
