  live owls.</strong></p>\n<p>Stillman's Executive Director\, Mark Spreyer\
 , has been bringing owls to school classes\, garden clubs\, wildlife confe
 rences\, and other groups for nearly thirty-five years. Mark did his gradu
 ate work in Minnesota on gray owls\, and then went on to organize and dire
 ct Chicago's peregrine falcon release program. His articles on birds of pr
 ey have appeared in various publications\, including&nbsp\;<em>Birder's</e
 m> World\, and currently writes a nature column for the <em>Daily Herald</
 em>. During his career\, Mark has worked with the Brooklyn Botanic Garden\
 , National Audubon Society\, and College of Lake County.</p>\n<p>The <a hr
 ef="https://www.gardenclubofdownersgrove.net/">Garden Club of Downers Grov
 e</a> was founded on February 28\, 1927\, by a group of women who were mem
 bers of the Downers Grove Women's Club.&nbsp\; A constitution and bylaws w
 ere established\, and dues were set at $1.00 per year. Officers and commit
 tee chairmen were elected with Mrs. M. L. Puffer as the first President an
 d Mrs. H. M. Lyman as Wildflower and Conservation Chairman. The objectives
  set then remain the same today -- namely\, to advance interest in gardeni
 ng\, support conservation efforts\, further city beautification\, and fund
  scholarships. The club has hosted 24 award-winning Flower Shows since 196
 0\,&nbsp\;the&nbsp\;latest&nbsp\;on July 8\, 2017\, to celebrate the club'
 s 90th anniversary. The purpose of a Standard Flower Show is to educate cl
 ub members and the viewing public\, to stimulate interest in horticulture 
 and floral design\, and to provide an outlet for creative expression.&nbsp
