 anhattan\, New York\, art collectors Vivian and John Hewitt built a person
 al collection of Haitian and African American art. The Hewitts frequently 
 travelled to Haiti\, met artists and attended art auctions. Vivian Hewitt 
 donated a collection of fourteen Haitian art pieces\, as well as books and
  art exhibition catalogs to the African American Research Library and Cult

 African American Research Library and Cultural Center&nbsp\;</strong></p>\
 n<p>The&nbsp\;<a href="https://www.broward.org/Library/Pages/BranchDetails
 .aspx?branchInfo=1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Broward County African 
 American Research Library and Cultural Center&nbsp\;(AARLCC)</a>&nbsp\;is 
 located in the Sistrunk community\, one of the oldest historically Black c
 ommunities named for one of Fort Lauderdale&rsquo\;s first Black physician
 s. Opening to the public on October 26\, 2002\, AARLCC became the third pu
 blic library of its kind in the United States dedicated to the study of Bl
 ack history and culture. The 60\,000 square-foot Center serves as a reposi
 tory of materials related to the local\, national\, and international voic
 es of the African diaspora with more than 85\,000 books\, manuscripts\, ar
 tifacts\, framed art\, print\, photography\, audiovisual\, and documents h
 eld in our Adult Services Section and Special Collections. The Youth Servi
 ces Section features a special collection of Coretta Scott King Award book
 s and the&nbsp\;Ashley Bryan Art Collection&nbsp\;from illustrators of Afr
 ican Descent. AARLCC also features a 5\,000 sq. ft. museum\, a 300-seat st
 ate-of-the-art theatre\, and a Computer Training Center.</p>\n<p><img src=
