Celebrate National Library Week and our Cl ara Barton neighborhood and branch library&rsquo\;s namesake by joining us for an in-person dramatic performance by actor Pat Jordan of the Heritage Theatre Guild who will bring Clara Barton to life\, highlighting Barton's accomplishments in her one-person show\, Clara Barton: Angel of the Battl efield.
\nClara Barton was born on Christmas Day\, 1821\, in North O xford\, MA. The bright\, sensitive girl grew into a strong advocate for ed ucation and proved a highly successful teacher\, creating New Jersey&rsquo \;s first free public school during her time as a teacher in Bordentown.&n bsp\;
\nWhen the Civil War broke out\, Clara headed for the front li nes\, taking supplies to wounded soldiers and earning the title &ldquo\;An gel of the Battlefield.&rdquo\; After the war\, she became a passionate su pporter of the International Red Cross during a visit to Europe. On her re turn to America\, Clara established the first chapter of the American Red Cross\, bringing disaster relief to countless thousands throughout the cou ntry. \;
\nClara&rsquo\;s indomitable strength\, dogged determin ation and boundless good will have become a model for all Americans.

Pat Jordan is an interpreter of famous American women\, professional singer-actor\, writer\, and director . Pat&rsquo\;s one-woman plays about famous American women have been prese nted at venues such as the Smithsonian Institution\, National Archives\, a nd NJ Council for the Humanities. Pat studied at H-B Studio in New York\, Juilliard Opera Workshop\, and holds a degree in Theatre and Communication Arts from Villanova University.
