Jess and Leyna will both be reading from t heir most recent books&mdash\;Leyna&rsquo\;s historical novel Fire Season\ , which Jess Walter described as &ldquo\;devilishly funny and endlessly in ventive&rdquo\; follows three scheming opportunists as their paths collide following a devastating fire in 1880&rsquo\;s Spokane. Over the years\, J ess Walter has chosen Spokane for the backdrop of many of his short storie s along with his historical novel The Cold Millions which is set not long after Leyna&rsquo\;s novel\, in early 1900&rsquo\;s Spokane. Both writers use wry humor\, memorable characters\, and high emotional stakes to create beautiful stories set in Spokane and beyond.
