ARTIST STATEMENT: My work explores my own relationship to the natural world\, particularly the fals e separation we often make between nature being somewhere we visit rather than where we live our everyday lives. While some of my paintings were ins pired by particularly wild places\, the vast majority are inspired by plan ts and ecosystems discovered in my backyard or my daily walks in my urban neighborhood. I am particularly interested in native plants and the biodiv ersity they support\, even in an urban settings. I pair delicate pen and i nk drawing with watercolors to create energetic\, playful and graphic comp ositions that celebrate the entangled relationships within various ecosyst ems.
\nARTIST BIOGRAPHY: I am an avid outdoorswoman who has lived in a variety of landscapes within the United States\, and I have found my mental and physical well-being are closely linked to my app reciation and understanding of the natural world around me. Born and raise d in Salt Lake City\, I am happy to be back home after a four year hiatus in the Midwest. I am a self taught artist\, and\, while my current art pra ctice is primarily watercolor\, I also work in printmaking and digital med iums.
