ARTIST STATEMENT: \;I n 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic\, I found myself having extra time on my hands so I bought a button maker. I never could have dreamed my ran dom purchase would turn into an obsession with plants\, flowers and the be auty of nature. I quickly started spending all my free time collecting pla nts and creating little designs and wearable works of art. My medium\, lea ves and flowers\, is often disregarded and left to rot. Through my art I h ope to instill an appreciation for the beauty that surrounds us in simple things.
\nARTIST BIO: Chalese Buttars is a Utah nat ive and had the pleasure of growing up in a small farming community. She g raduated with her doctorate degree in audiology in 2015 from Utah State Un iversity and spent the first few years of her career traveling to developi ng countries to provide hearing healthcare. In 2019\, she shifted gears to a new role that gave her more time to pursue a love for creating art thro ugh plants.
