  a writer\, educator\, baker\, and apprentice cheesemaker here in Spokane\
 ; she will read alongside other local writers who helped shape this "sage 
 and sensuous" collection. There will also be cheese and preserves\, and a 
 celebration of other fruity titles for all ages\, including some of Lebo's
  favorite picture books. This is sure to be a savory and nourishing evenin
 g of stories and sustenance.</p>\n<p>This will be a hybrid event\, both in
 -person and streamed live on the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/channel/

 About the author:</p>\n<p>Kate Lebo's first collection of nonfiction\,&nbs
 p\;<em>The Book of Difficult Fruit</em>\, won the 2022 Washington State Bo
 ok Award for Creative Nonfiction. It was&nbsp\;also named a best book of t
 he year by&nbsp\;<em>NPR\,&nbsp\;The Atlantic\,&nbsp\;New York&nbsp\;magaz
 ine\,&nbsp\;Electric&nbsp\;Literature</em>\, and&nbsp\;<em>The Globe and M
 ail</em>.&nbsp\;She's the author of&nbsp\;the&nbsp\;cookbook&nbsp\;<em>Pie
  School</em>&mdash\;which will be re-released in an expanded and revised e
 dition in late summer 2023&mdash\;and the poetry chapbook&nbsp\;<em>Seven 
 Prayers to Cathy McMorris Rodgers</em>\, and coeditor with Samuel Ligon of
 &nbsp\;<em>Pie &amp\; Whiskey: Writers Under the Influence of&nbsp\;Butter
  &amp\; Booze</em>. Her essays and poems have appeared or will appear soon
  in&nbsp\;<em>Best American Essays\,&nbsp\;Orion\, Harper&rsquo\;s Magazin
 e\,&nbsp\;Cake Zine\,&nbsp\;The Inlander</em>\, and elsewhere. She teaches
  nonfiction for the University of Idaho&rsquo\;s MFA program and&nbsp\;liv
 es with her family in Spokane\, Washington\, where she is an apprentice ch
