 customer service desk the day of the program. Space is limited**</p>\n<p>P
 ublic schools aren't in session today! Come enjoy some storytelling.</p>\n
 <p>For many cultures\, stories are the original way the &ldquo\;whys&rdquo
 \; of the physical world were explained\, as science does now. The imagery
  and values in the stories from Dovie&rsquo\;s Native ancestry pair the &l
 dquo\;whys&rdquo\; of science with the very contemporary &ldquo\;hows&rdqu
 o\; of living in balance on our shared Earth.</p>\n<p>The wise\, boisterou
 s teaching tales of her Lakota and Plains Apache relatives come alive in l
 isteners&rsquo\; imaginations as Dovie Thomason shares her culture with un
 derstanding\, sly humor and astonishing vocal transformations.&nbsp\; Told
  with elegance\, wit and passion\, her stories inspire delight in the spok
 en word and teach respect for values passed on through generations.&nbsp\;
  When Dovie tells stories from her own life and from her people&rsquo\;s e
 xperience\, the result is a contemporary vision of the rich cultures of th
 e First Nations of North America.&nbsp\; A former teacher\, Dovie is an NE
 A and Arts International recipient\, Wordcraft Circle of Native Writers&rs
 quo\; Traditional Storyteller of the Year and was honored with the Nationa
 l Storytelling Network&rsquo\;s 2007 Circle of Excellence Award.</p>\n<p>S
 ponsored by the Friends of the Library\, Montgomery County.</p>\n<p>Lookin
