Art Talk Tuesday \;is a monthly conver sation that invites contemporary artists to discuss their work and the iss ues surrounding it\, followed by a moderated Q&\;A with artist and writ er Jennifer Remenchik. Art Talk Tuesday artists are selected to reflect th e diversity of the art scene of the greater Los Angeles area. \;
\nMichael Ned Holte is a writer and independent curator based in Los Ange les. His areas of inquiry include the history\, theory\, and criticism of contemporary art\; Southern California art history\; exhibition making and history\; microinstitutions and alternative spaces\; performance\; experi mental music and sound. He teaches at the California Institute of the Arts \, where he is currently Associate Dean in the School of Art. \;He rec ently organized the exhibition &ldquo\;how we are in time and space: Nancy Buchanan\, Marcia Hafif\, Barbara T. Smith&rdquo\; at the Armory Center f or the Arts\, Pasadena\, along with a parallel program of performances\, s creenings\, and conversations. His critical essays have appeared in period icals such as Afterall\, Artforum\, Art Journal\, East of Borneo\, Frieze\ , Poetry\, and X-TRA\; he has written monographic essays on artists includ ing Charles Gaines\, Richard Hawkins\, Alice Kö\;nitz\, Shio Kusaka\, Roy McMakin\, Steve Roden\, Clarissa Tossin\, and Shirley Tse\, among othe rs. Bog Time\, a pamphlet on the tape and electronic music of Pauline Oliv eros\, is forthcoming. \;
