The DC&rsquo\;s Different Drummers Jazz Ba nd is ringing in Pride month with a rainbow-themed concert. The set will f eature tunes with titles representing the colors of the progress pride fla g. Join us on June 4th at 3:30 pm to hear music ranging from swing to sals a\, blues to funk\, and more! \;Also featuring a performance from the improvisational jazz combo 2nd Independence.
\n\nD.C.&rsquo\ ;s Different Drummers is a lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, and transgender musi c organization welcoming ALL musicians as it fosters pride\, inclusivity\, and engagement with the greater Washington\, D.C. region through music. D .C.&rsquo\;s Different Drummers started in 1980 with 7 musicians who got t ogether in an apartment in Washington\, DC\, to play through some books of college fight songs. The first song played by the band was &ldquo\;On Wis consin!&rdquo\;. Today their membership has well over 125 people with ense mbles that cover classical\, jazz\, contemporary\, marching music\, and wi nter guard. They play all over the DC metro region\, and draw membership f rom the LGBT community and their supporters in the National Capital Region while striving to create music and fellowship.
\nD.C. Different Dru mmers is a 501(c)(3) non-profit music organization incorporated in the Dis trict of Columbia\, and a participant in the Jon Sims Endowment Fund. They are founding members of the Lesbian and Gay Band Association\, proud memb ers of TeamDC\, and Pride Partners of the Capital Pride Alliance.
