 cuss the history and significance of Juneteenth from her perspective as an
  oral historian and someone whose family has observed the holiday for the 
 past 50 years.&nbsp\; Kelly Elaine Navies is a Museum Specialist with the 
 Oral History Initiative at the <a href="https://nmaahc.si.edu/">National M
 useum of African American History and Culture.</a><br />Kelly Elaine Navie
 s is the Museum Specialist in Oral History for the Smithsonian National Mu
 seum of African American History and Culture.&nbsp\;. Her passion for oral
  history and African American Studies carried her into graduate work at UN
 C Chapel Hill where she studied at the Southern Oral History Program. She 
 later received a Master&rsquo\;s in Library and Information Science from t
 he Catholic University of America with an emphasis in Cultural Heritage. N
 avies is also the First VP of the Oral History Association.</p>\n<p>Don't
