What are these soc
ial events about?
The VoiceStory social events are about put
ting away cell phones and taking a moment to be with yourself and other co
mmunity members\, then having time to practice how to have a conversation.
Are you new to the community and want to meet people?
Looking for a safe space to practice speaking?
Tired of having video
calls to connect with other people?
Then this is where you w
ant to be!
If you have thoughts and feelings of being discon
nected\, uncertain of what to say\, what to talk about\, not wanting to go
alone\, &ldquo\;this is just another networking event&hellip\;&rdquo\; or
a multitude of other reasons&hellip\; please understand that we have kept
all of this in mind in the creation of these social events for you.
What happens during the event?
We start eac
h event by introducing a few key concepts on the Art of Conversation and h
ow to become a more effective communicator.
Next\, we invite
you to participate in our safe\, friendly\, empowered space\, where we wi
ll facilitate rounds of 1-on-1 conversation by providing a topic/question
for each round of conversation.
Will I get to meet new peo
ple?
Yes! We take care of pairing everyone up with someone n
ew every round\, so you have ample opportunity to meet new people from you
r community and practice the art of conversation.

ial events happen twice a month at the Coquitlam Library City Center Branc
h from 6:30pm- 8:00pm on the following dates:

hurs July 27 - Key Concept: Three skills that will help you become an effe
ctive communicator.
Wed August 9 - Key Concept: Three ways to avoid s
abotaging your communication skills.
Thurs August 24 - Key Concept: H
ow to craft meaningful conversations &ndash\; in five minutes or less.
Wed September 13 - Key Concept: Build deeper connections by changing you
r language in three simple steps.
Thurs September 28 - Key Concept: I
ncrease your capacity to hold space for other people &ndash\; with one ski
ll.
How to attend these events?
These
social events are for people aged 16 and up.
We ask that you
please register ahead of time using the links below so we can plan accord
ingly.
