About the Workshop

\n< p>The Miami-Dade Public Library System&rsquo\;s Special Collections and Ar chives division is excited to announce the Archiving 101 program\, designe d to teach the basics of archiving and preservation.

\n

In this infor mative and engaging workshop\, the Special Collections and Archives team w ill teach participants the importance of preserving their materials and st oring and caring for them properly. Participants will be guided on how to archive and cover topics such as assessment\, sorting\, and proper housing of items and how to create a finding aid for the collection.

\n

Part icipants are encouraged to bring materials they want to preserve. This wor kshop will primarily focus on printed materials\, photographs\, and small objects. Registered participants will receive a gently used archival-quali ty document box and supplies to get started creating their own collection.
