 ip in the United States are.</p>\n<p>Spokane Civics Salon meets from 2:00-
 3:30 PM on the last Sunday of every month. Each Salon will be focused on a
  particular text.</p>\n<p>This month\, we will discuss some of the main po
 ints in G.A. Cohen's short but impactful work <em>Why Not Socialism?</em><
 /p>\n<p>"Right before he died\, Marxist philosopher G. A. Cohen wrote a sh
 ort book called Why Not Socialism?" writes Ben Burgis in <a href="https://
 jacobin.com/2022/04/ga-cohen-why-not-socialism-book"><em>Jacobin</em></a> 
 magazine. "It&rsquo\;s a perfect introduction to the case for moving beyon
 d a capitalist economy."</p>\n<p>Participants are of course welcome to rea
 d the entire work\, but <a href="https://jacobin.com/2022/04/ga-cohen-why-
 not-socialism-book">this excellent summary</a> will be sufficient for prom

 ng></p>\n<p>A Salon is a gathering of people guided by a host who come tog
 ether to exchange ideas and increase their knowledge through meaningful co
 nversation.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Shane holds a Ph.D. in philosophy from the Univ
 ersity of Colorado Boulder. He has taught courses in logic\, ethics\, soci
 al and political philosophy\, and the philosophy of law. He has been publi
 shed in the areas of the nature of rationality\, human well-being\, and th
 e ethics of personal relationships.</p>\n<p>By&nbsp\;attending library pro
