Enjoy a live performance by Maria Blues on Friday\, July 14 starti ng at 7:00pm. Join us for eclectic live music outside on the lawn behind Brand Library &\; Art Center. Visitors are welcome to bring a c hair or blanket and picnic on the grassy hillsides in Brand Park. Seats ar e not provided. Performances run 60 - 90 minutes without intermission. Per formances may be experienced by children and families.
\nSinger\, so ngwriter\, guitarist and drummer at heart\, Maria Blues plays a fusion of ska\, reggae and Latin American rhythms with a hint of soul. Her stage nam e comes from one of her favorite Manu Chao songs\, &ldquo\;The Merry Blues &rdquo\;. In addition to Manu Chao\, she also draws inspiration from Amy W inehouse\, Juan Gabriel\, Chavela Vargas\, and Mon Laferte. Before diving into her own song-writing talents\, she previously played drums with sever al LA ska bands. Maria is now taking her vocals to the stage with a backin g band. Hailing from South LA\, Maria Blues strives to bring her own uniqu e sound to every show and to capture the hearts of all audiences. \;\n
Ample free parking is available in Brand Park. An accessible entran ce and accessible parking for cars with a disabled parking placard or lice nse plate is located on the East side of Brand Library.
