According the the Alabama Institute for De af and Blind\, "American Sign Language is a manual language distinct from spoken English. It has its own syntax and grammar\, and is the second most common language in the United States." \;
\nO'Neal Library is p leased to provide a free\, eight-week course on American Sign Language in which we will learn basic signs and techniques\, additional resources\, an d a little bit about Deaf culture\, all taught by an instructor from the A labama Institute for Deaf and Blind. \;
\nClasses are live with the instructor via Zoom om Tuesday evenings from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Don't worr y if you miss a class\, we record and archive each session so it can be ac cessed at any time.
\nRegistering for the course will automatically register you for the entire eight weeks.
