Join Rachel Whitaker from the Shiloh Museu m of Ozark History for a presentation on the history of Ozark quilts. The talk will examine quilting in the Ozarks\, how it arrived here and some of the patterns that were used and how they came to be. \; \;
\n< p>About the instructor: \;\nRachel Whitaker gr ew up in Highfill\, Arkansas\, and attended school in nearby Gentry until she began homeschool in the seventh grade. She attended college at Northea stern State University in Tahlequah\, Oklahoma. Her educational background is in history and libraries. Rachel&rsquo\;s work in the history field ha s included internships at George Washington Carver National Monument in Di amond\, Missouri\, and the Hunter&rsquo\;s Home in Park Hill\, Oklahoma. S he also spent time among the Kiowa tribe in southwestern Oklahoma\, workin g on a project to collect animal tales. Rachel is currently a history inst ructor at Connors State College in Muskogee\, Oklahoma and student at the University of Arkansas\, Fayetteville. She spends her limited spare time o utside or reading something not assigned by her professors.
